According to social media postings in Twitter and Facebook, the Ethiopian government & many of Abiy Ahmed’s cronies are organizing what they call “a day of rage” against the Western governments in general and the United States government in particular.

The unitary Amhara led groups are angry at the United States government because the U.S. opposes the genocidal war going on in Tigrai. The Abiy Ahmed unelected regime with the help of Eritrean dictatorial government and the expansionist Amhara reginal government have been waging a bloody war against the people of Tigrai for the past seven months. In the past half a year, since the start of the war over one million Tigraians have been deported from their own land from Western Tigrai, 5.2 million people in Tigrai are forced to depend on food aid because of the war, almost three million Tigraians are displaced, over 70 thousand Tigraians have fled to Sudan and they are in refugee camps and thousands of women and girls are raped.

The Western countries led by the United States government are voicing their grave concern about the war in Tigrai. The United States government has appointed a special envoy for the Horn of Africa, Jeffery Feltman to closely follow the catastrophic war in Tigrai and the Horn of Africa in general. The Biden administration has been especially vocal about the atrocities carried out by the Eritrean, Ethiopian and Amhara forces against the civilian population of Tigrai. The United States government has sharply criticized the governments of Eritrea and Ethiopia in it’s latest statement. In the recent statement the United States government demanded Eritrean and Amhara forces to withdraw from Tigrai, the invading armies to give unfettered access to humanitarian agencies so they can provide aid to the needy people of Tigrai, the statement also calls for secession of hostilities by all sides, and to hold all those responsible for atrocities accountable.

The following tow paragraphs are the latest statement by Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken on the U.S. Department of State website.

The United States is gravely concerned by the increasing number of confirmed cases of military forces blocking humanitarian access to parts of the Tigray region. This unacceptable behavior places the 5.2 million people in the region in immediate need of humanitarian assistance at even greater risk. The United States unequivocally calls upon the Governments of Eritrea and Ethiopia to take all necessary steps to ensure that their forces in Tigray cease and desist this reprehensible conduct. We also again call on all parties to comply with obligations under international humanitarian law, including those relevant to the protection of civilians, and to cease immediately all hostilities and allow relief to reach those suffering and in greatest need of assistance. The Ethiopian government should lead in this regard and immediately facilitate full and unhindered access for humanitarian actors to all parts of the Tigray region.

There are many credible reports of armed forces in Tigray committing acts of violence against civilians, including gender-based violence and other human rights abuses and atrocities. The conduct of the Eritrean Defense Forces and Amhara regional forces have been particularly egregious. The continued presence of Eritrean forces in Tigray further undermines Ethiopia’s stability and national unity. We again call upon the Government of Eritrea to remove its forces from Tigray. Both Eritrean and Ethiopian authorities have repeatedly promised such a withdrawal, but we have seen no movement towards implementation. We equally urge the Government of Ethiopia to withdraw Amhara regional forces from the Tigray region and ensure that effective control of western Tigray is returned to the Transitional Government of Tigray. Prime Minister Abiy and President Isaias must hold all those responsible for atrocities accountable.

The organizers of the so called “hands of Ethiopia day of rage” are really angry at United States government for asking the Ethiopian government to stop the genocidal war against the people of Tigrai and the U.S. is exposing their regimes crimes against humanity. Apparently in the day of rage there will be public demonstrations condemning the governments of the United States, Sudan, Egypt, Great Britain and the EU. Also the demonstration will include burning of the American flag and all this rage is because supporters of the Abiy Ahmed regime would like the killing of Tigraians to continue.

Ethiopia is the second largest recipient of U.S. aid second to Egypt in Africa.

Reject the terrorist designation of the TPLF by Mr. Abiy Ahmed
The designation of Tigray’s TPLF and Oromia’s OLA as terrorist entities is a clear demonstration of Mr. Abiy’s intent to continue the path of violence to silence his political challengers.
