A cargo container full of thousands of dollars worth of life-saving medical supplies is on its way to two rural Ethiopian clinics with the help of local volunteers and two national organizations said the Nashville city paper on Wednesday September 19, 2007.

On Wednesday 12, 2007, Project C.U.R.E. volunteers sorted, packed, and loaded a 40-foot container full of medical supplies including lab equipments, exam tables, birthing beds to be used to set up two clinics in Ethiopia. The container also had many day-to-day health supplies, including sterile gloves, bandages, and bed linens. Project C.U.R.E. is part of the Benevolent Healthcare Foundation, a 501©(3) non-profit humanitarian relief organization that collects medical supplies and equipments and donates it to developing countries.

The container sent last week is one of 21 containers the group has agreed to send to Ethiopia in partnership with the Clinton Foundation. Each container has approximately $400,000.00 to $500,000.00 worth of medical supplies. According to the news paper, the two organizations partnered in 2005 to help the men, women, and children of Ethiopia who are suffering and dieing due to lack of proper medical facilities and medical supplies.

Heidi Rickels, project C.U.R.E. director of communications said that the group has sent the first container of medical supplies and equipments to Ethiopia in February 2006, with several other containers following shortly after the first shipment. Rickels also mentioned project C.U.R.E. agreed to send the 21 cargo containers to Ethiopia between May and December of this year. Based on the data given on the Nashville city paper, the 21 containers approximately carry $8,400,000.00 to 10,500,000.00 worth of medical supplies and equipments.

The lesson to be learned here is to convince our selves to do what ever we can to help our people and our country. If the Americans go that far to help our country, why not meet them at least half way if not possible to do more than them for our own people. As President Kennedy said, “ask your self what you can do for your country, not what your country can do for you.”

Thanks,

WE SHOULD SAY IT
