Al-Shabab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane's death is a great blow to Eritrean government

In the first week of September 2014 the United States government announced that the leader of Al-Shabab has been killed by US forces.  The leader Al-Ahmed Abdi Godane, also known as Mukhtar C / ramaan Abu Zubayr was killed on Monday September 1, 2014.

Repots said Godane was traveling in a convoy with other leaders of Al-Shabab when they came under attack from US Special Forces who were trucking them down for months. The Al-Shabab vehicles with the leaders inside them were destroyed. Six terrorists were vaporized including the commander of Al-Shabab Ahmed Godane. Three of the other killed on the operation are believed to be leaders of the terrorst group also. Ahmed Godane was a favorite of the Eritrean president because strong animosity he had towards Ethiopia and Ethiopians.

The Al-Shabab leaders were traveling under the cover of the night, but it didn’t save them from the Hellfire missiles and laser-guided bombs raining on them from drones and Ac-130 gunship attack aircrafts.

Ahmed Abdi Godane is not the first to be killed by the US military. In 2008 another leader of Al-Shabab named Aden Hashi was killed in a similar way.

Al-Shabab is affiliated the international terrorist group Al-Qaeda. The group has been trying to establish a barbaric twelve century Islamic State in Somalia for years. Thanks to the gallant Ethiopian defense forces it was routed out of the Capital Mogadishu and major cities in Somalia. What is left of it is cornered in the jungles of southern Somalia in the border with Kenya.

The killing of Godane is another big blow to the Eritrean regime who was supporting them in every way.

Horn of Africa analysts predict it will be very hard for Al-Shabab to continue after Godane because choosing the next leader will be a challenge for the group. The group is fragmented in to many factions and they are not going to be able to come together to choose the next leader.

Our sincere condolences to President Isaias Afwerki and his government on the great loss of their dear commander Ahamed Godane of Al-Shabab ZeBiher Al-Qaeda. Especially right after they lost the all time freedom fighter Andargachew Tsige (Wedi Harina).

On the other hand we would take this action by the US military as a new year gift to Ethiopia.
