The famous Ethiopian author Sibhat Gebregziabiher passed away this morning at the age of 78.
Sibhat who suffered from illness was admitted to hospital. However, he was released from Hospital last Wednesday. He died this morning at his home.
Sibhat was born about thirty kilometers south of the historic town of Adwa in a village called Ruba-gered in northern Ethiopia, Tigrai State. Sebhat's published works include Tekusat, Säbatägnaw Mälak, Egrä Mängäd, Mastawäsha, and Amist-Sidist-Sebat, among others.
Sibhat had also worked as journalist for many years in many Ethiopian different media organizations. Sibhat was the most beloved author in Ethiopia not only for his short style writing but, also he lived as a simple person. Sibhat Gebregziabiher is a brother of Dr. Tewolde Gebregziabiher, the well know environmentalist.
Since 1991 he has worked for the Amharic daily Addis Zemen and Abiotawi Democracy producing several articles, features and fictions.
Sibhat will be laid to rest later today at St. Silassie Church in Addis Ababa.
