Prime Minister Meles Zenawi answers a wide range of public question’s on the progress of The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile river
The first anniversary of ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will be celebrated with various assortments enabling to further increase public participation and fund raising for success of construction of the Dam, the National Coordination Council for Renaissance Dam said.
Council Executive Committee Member, Redwan Hussein said here on Monday that the vast assortment of activities will include sports and arts.
Redwan, who is also public mobilization and participation adviser minister to the Prime Minister, said the celebration is aimed at further strengthening national consensus and intensifying public participation towards success of construction of the Dam.
Higher level government officials and diplomats will play football as part of the celebration, he said, adding, the diplomats will also be drawn from Nile Riparian countries.
The game is believed to further enhance existing understanding and trust among the Nile Riparian countries, he said.
St. George and Ethiopian Coffee clubs will also meet for Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam cup prepared in connection with the celebration.
Renowned musical banks will also stage performance at the Addis Ababa Stadium and the area, where the Dam is being constructed.
Treasurer of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, Amanuel Abraham on his part said a 10km race will be held in the capital in connection with the celebration.
The Dam being constructed in Guba Woreda of Benishangul Gumz State will have capacity to generate 6000MW electric power.
