Bandung. Indonesia ambassador to Ethiopia Ramli Sa'ud expressed his country's desire to further strengthen trade and investment ties with the East African nation, according to Ethiopian news source NewsDire.
Efforts were already underway to achieve those ends, Ramli said at a meeting between officials and businesspeople from both countries in Bandung on Wednesday.
Annual trade between the countries has already reached $106 million, NewsDire said. Indonesia's imports include Ethiopian oil seeds, soya beans and leather, while Ethiopia buys automotives and edible oil, among other products.
Indonesia and Ethiopia commenced diplomatic relations in 1978, the site said.
Ethiopia was one of 29 countries in attendance at the Asian-African Conference in Bandung in 1955, one of the key events leading up to the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961.
