Ethiopia’s Civil Service Minister, Junedin Saddo, has been embroiled in a public controversy with Ethiopian Federal Police accusing them they failed to properly investigate his wife before her arrest about four months ago for suspicion of aiding Muslim extremists.
Saddo’s wife, Habiba Mohammed, was arrested on July 17 under suspicion of supporting extremist Muslim activists protesting against Ethiopian government. Habiba Mohammed was detained upon exiting the Saudi embassy in the capital allegedly with a stash of money totalling about $100,000 in her car along with 500 holly Quran books, other Arabic literature and dirty dishes that the police believed were from a Sadaqa (alms) Muslim protesters held at the local mosque.
