TDA-DC Chapter
Tigrai Online Dec. 05, 2012
Just four months after a successful fundraiser in July 2012, on Nov 24, 2012, members and supporters of Tigray Development Association came from all over the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area to have a thankful night under one roof.
TDA DC chapter organized a much-deserved “Thank You Night” to all members and supporters of TDA. The chapter’s Committee had two main goals in mind for the event, to thank the community on behalf of all TDA beneficiaries and to encourage the public to unite and re-invigorate its efforts, more than ever, and spearhead the development of Tigray.
TDA provided a free entrance musical night and free delicious traditional food, which was donated and prepared by our generous members of the community. The chapter’s Committee expressed their gratitude to the community members’ continuous commitment and unwavering support for TDA through the years. A very touching short video that shows TDA’s completed projects and ongoing projects was showed. Many of the attendees were satisfied to see the fruits of their contribution truly changing the lives of thousands of fellow brothers and sisters in the motherland. Families and friends who came to spend the night together appreciated the opportunity to own the timeless and archive materials such as DVD, uniquely designs shirts, calendars and large portraits of selfless Tegaru leaders that were put together so well.
Despite the hardship of losing irreplaceable leaders, it was encouraging to see the community bouncing right back stronger than ever to continue on the path to accelerate the economic and institutional development in Tigray. Staying on the theme, uplifting and motivating poetry was read, adding such an encouraging messages to an already colorful night. Fellow Tegaru artists kept the night joyous with their mesmerizing musical talents and blissful melodies.
TDA’s DC Chapter Committee members would like to extend their humble thanks to all members and friends of TDA, the thank you night achieved the intended goals and beyond. It wouldn’t have been successful without the dedication of countless of people who contributed their time, energy, resources, money and knowledge for their much-loved people including the radio stations and website that were instrumental in promoting the event. The mixture of seasoned and experienced leaders along with the energetic young members, we are working hard to keep the chapter active and vibrant. Going forward, the chapter has agreed to make the Saturday following the Thanksgiving Holiday to be an annual TDA Night.
Indeed, a well deserved thank you night for all,
TDA-DC Chapter Committee members.
