TDANA Wishes You All A Happy New Year and A Speedy Progress and Transformation of Our Beloved Nation, Ethiopia

Tigrai Online Jan. 01, 2013
The year 2012, has elapsed leaving its imprints in the annals of history. Being at the foothills of departure and arrival of the old and the New Year, we bid farewell to the old year and receive the New Year, 2013, with great fanfare hoping it will bring us significant progress resulting in a vivid and illustrious overhaul and transformation of our country.
Our country, Ethiopia, in the last twenty years, with a combined and concerted effort of the government, civil society and the people of Ethiopia at large, has shown great socio-economic strides which have eventually altered its tarnished image for good.
Ethiopia is, today, reckoned as one of the few top front liners in the world manifested with a breakneck and hopping socio- economic growth. The people of Ethiopia have now tasted the fruits of their hard labor and have vowed not to pause but to strive forward until poverty is uprooted once and for all in its entirety.
Since the advent of the forces of peace in Ethiopia in1991, the people of Tigray together with other stake holders, the Regional State of Tigray, the private sector, TDA International and other home grown/foreign NGOs have been engaged in fixing, building and ameliorating the economic and social infrastructure of the Region. The results of the combined efforts of these forces of development have been remarkably fruitful.
Tigray Development Association (TDA), as a non-profit organization, since its inception in 1989, has been engaged in different areas of development activities in Tigray. Having focused mainly on education and health sectors, TDA has built hundreds of primary, middle and high schools, libraries, training centers and other health facilities in Tigray.
Since the depths of the problems are extremely deep rooted, the challenge to tackle these problems still requires strong resolve by all of us in and outside Ethiopia. Even though, what has been accomplished so far in Tigray is so marvelous, the reality on the ground speaks that more needs to be done.
Tigray Development Association in North America (TDANA), as part and parcel of the forces of development in Tigray, has for the last twenty years been participating in different areas of development endeavors. Besides the apt provision of material and financial support, TDANA has tirelessly organized and waged development campaigns of ‘clean water for Tigray’(tseruy mai n’tigray), ‘advocating its development by its sons and daughters ‘(lema’at adi bedki adi), ‘from das to class’ …etc. in North America to support the cause of development in Tigray.
By way of acknowledgement it is in order to mention here that, the building of 15 primary schools by all Tigreans in North America in partnership with the local communities of Tigray stands tall. This is an indelible and outstanding example of the unified and collective will, strength and determination on the part of Tigrean communities in North America.
Although much has been accomplished, the people of Tigray still need our support. More schools, libraries, computers, laboratory equipment and books are needed. If we come together, as in the past, there is nothing that could hinder us from making our wishes and dreams come true.
As we bid farewell the old year 2012 and passionately welcome the New Year 2013 with fanfare with bouquets of flowers and a bunch of hopes and wishes TDANA, would like to take this golden opportunity of the advent of the New Year to convey its best wishes to all its members, supporters and friends a happy and prosperous New Year.
Hoping that everyone of us has a list of wishes ready in store for the new year 2013 to make, TDANA calls upon everybody to include his/her solemn pledge of determination and participation in development activities as one of his/her priority wish list.
In addition to the list of wishes each and every one is specifically urged to convey his/her wishes to the people of Tigray to: extend his/her helping hand, by becoming a member and strengthen TDANA in his/her vicinity, enhance his/her participation in any way he/she finds it comfortable and appropriate.
Since your membership and participation is vital for TDANA, take a pause and join us now. If you need information about TDANA’s activities and other information, please visit our website, tdana.org. Join us and together we will make a difference.
Thanks, TDANA Washington DCAdvertisements
