Declaration by Dallas-Fort worth Ethiopian American Consensus Forum
Ethiopian American Consensus Forum Press Release about the barbaric treatment of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia

We, members of the Dallas-Fort worth Ethiopian American Consensus Forum vehemently oppose the brutal and inhumane treatment of our fellow Ethiopians, including rape, beatings and murders.

The Saudi government should accept full responsibilities for this atrocities. Hence, we demand:

  1. Restitution and compensation for our brothers and sisters who were the victims of this senseless violence.
  2. To bring to justice all responsible perpetrators who commit this inhumane crimes.
  3. Compensation for those who have been dismissed without payment for their labor.
  4. The protection and safety of those brothers and sisters who are residing in Saudi Arabia with proper legal permits.

We all know the longstanding familial and mutual respect among the peoples of Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. It is not necessary to reiterate Prophet Mohammad’s teachings advocating this basic principle. It is our deep hope that these brotherly relationship will continue based on mutual respect.

While we express our admiration for the efforts being undertaken by the Ethiopian government to facilitate the return of our stranded brothers and sisters to Ethiopia, we urge the Ethiopian government to apply added pressure on Saudi Arabia to act on the above enumerated demands.

Through unity, we can accomplish anything.
