August 09, 2013

Tigrai Online - An Ethiopian military cargo aircraft carrying ammunition missed the runway and burst in to flames at the Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday. Four of the six crew members are reported dead and the two sustained injuries and they are receiving medical attention at the African Union Mission (AMISOM) hospital.

The airplane was carrying arms for the African Union mission in Somalia which has more than 17, 000 personnel from all over Africa. The Ethiopian military in Somalia are not part of the AMISOM mission although it’s military operations are approved by the United Nations, the African Union and supported by the US government.

The Al-Qedda supported terrorist group in Somalia Al-Shabab said the plane crash is an act of God. Ethiopian forces routed out the terrorists form most of their strong holds in the past few years giving a chance for the weak Somali government to set foot in the Capital Mogadishu.

Ethiopia is one of the biggest contributors of peacekeeping forces in Africa.
