Ethiopian Boeing 737 landed in Mekelle with 210 passengers for the first time in two years

Tigrai Online 12/28/2022

Ethiopian Airlines 737 flew from Addis Ababa Ethiopia for the first time in two years to Mekelle the capital city of Tigrai. The plane carried 210 Tigraian passengers who took this first flight to visit their family in Tigrai. When the plane landed at the Alula Aba Nega International airport those who were int the plane and those who were waiting at the airport were overwhelmed with emotions. Some people were seen kissing the ground happy to be back to their homeland. The emotional reunions indicate how the people of Tigrai are impacted from the two years genocidal war & siege enforced by the governments of Ethiopia, Eritrea & the region of Amhara.

It is hard to tell if the flights will continue as announced by the Ethiopian government or not, but if the telephone, electric power & banking are any indication it is very confusing. On one hand the government says services will be fully started soon and show little signs of opening, on the other hand the so called services are not working properly or they are not functioning the way the should be.

Some people are speculating the Abiy Ahmed regime so strapped strapped for money it is trying to decisive Western governments to release funding & get back to AGOA in the USA.

Large part of Tigrai is still under occupation by Eritrean & Amhara forces and 99% of the siege still in place. On top of that thousands of Tigraian civilians and former members of ENDF are in concentration camps based on their identity.

The Western governments should really be very careful not to be deceived by the latest Ethiopian government stunt.
