In the Masonic Community Hall
At 440 Weber St. North
From 8:00 pm to 2:00 am.
The Ethiopian people and government are geared up to alleviate the poverty stigma that has been attached with us for centuries and build the positive image of our country through Growth and Transformation Plan. This strategic goal oriented plan is set out to transform Ethiopia from chronic poverty in to a middle income earner country by 2025.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam of the hydro project is one of the many multi-Billion dollar projects currently under construction on the River of Nile (Abay). As we all know, the River Abay was a major source of contention between the upper and the lower riparian countries. Our Country was in a disadvantageous position for centuries mainly due to the Egyptians influence, lobbying against financing any Ethiopian project on the River Abay. Now we (Ethiopians) are in position proudly, capable of financing our mega project on Abay with no harm policy and a win-win scenario that benefits all the Nile basin countries including Egypt. The unique part of this mega project is, it is financed & engineered, by the Ethiopian people and government. This green hydro project will indeed enhance the poor livelihood of Ethiopians and the energy demand that Ethiopia needs for its double digit fast growing economy.
Since March 2011, all Ethiopians around the globe are united in fund-Raising events for GERD, to complete the project on its scheduled time. Here in Kitchener, Ontario the GERD fund-Raising committee is working hard to contribute our part through coordinating and organizing Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopians to put their finger prints on this Tehadisso project through buying Bonds and participating in fund-raising activities in support of this historical project.
