The seventh general conference of Tigrayan People’s Libration Front - TPLF opens in Mekelle the capital city of Tigrai state today. The TPLF’s executive and central committee lengthy closed meeting concluded back in November 2017. After the meeting there was some structural and management changes in the executive committee. Dr Debretsion Geberemichael was elected as a chairman of the TPLF replacing Mr. Abay Woldu. A few executive committee members were demoted or removed and new members were elected. These changes were very good start, but the bulk of the difficult job remains to be tackled by the general conference of the organization which is taking place in Mekelle.
We are expecting the structuring and cleansing of the TPLF central committee members will be one of the agendas to be examined in great detail.
After the TPLF split some years ago the strength of the organization has been eroded continuously. The split weaken the TPLF and exposed it to its enemies. The people of Tigrai were hurt in many ways because of the split.

It seems there is enthusiasm and determination on TPLF and the people things will turn around after all these restructuring taking place.

Many say there are more projects that are started, or their corner stone laid than completed projects in Tigrai. It will be refreshing to hear some of the dormant projects are completed and they are up and running.
We wish the new Tigrai administration good luck.
