Dr Susan Rice has been subjected to a sustained and vicious attack from the toothless, inept, pathetic and dying members of the toxic Diaspora for a considerable period. These non-entities left no stone unturned to prevent her from being confirmed as the next Secretary of State of the United States of America. The seasoned diplomat has just announced that she would not want to be considered as Mrs Hilary Clinton’s replacement at Capitol Hill. It is a pity and a huge loss to the world at large that a highly experienced African-American diplomat and a great friend of Ethiopia isn’t going to take charge of the State Department.
In any case, why were the ‘’fools and idiots’’ spearheading a campaign against the US ambassador to the UN? Why were they pleading with President Obama not to forward Ms Rice to congress for confirmation? Would this not be a shameful double standard as a short while ago they were working vehemently against his re-election? Is Ms Rice’s support for Ethiopia in its fight to conquer poverty a crime in the eyes of the zealots? Was it not Ms Rice who stood by Ethiopia in the border dispute with Eritrea despite the fact that The Hague’s decision was in favour of the pariah state? Do they seriously believe that Ethiopia would suffer if Ms Rice was not confirmed for the post?
It is patently obvious that, as a result of the political stability and the significant achievements in the economic sphere, Ethiopia is no longer as vulnerable as it used to be. With or without Ms Rice in the state department, the relentless endeavour to defeat poverty would proceed without too much stress. Ethiopia is now capable of withstanding shocks of varying magnitudes, and is no more susceptible to external interferences from the US and Europe. The West needs Ethiopia as an ally in the fight against terrorism and as a contributor of peace keeping forces to strife ridden regions of the African continent. It would not be in the interest of the West to stifle Ethiopia as it is bound to be counterproductive and could seriously damage the symbiotic partnership that has been in place for a number of years. In any case let us remind the toxic Diaspora a few of the turbulences that occurred in Ethiopia over the recent past that could have caused the’ old’ Ethiopia a huge upheaval and turmoil:
The ‘’fools and idiots’’ repeated calls for an uprising similar to the ‘Arab spring’ failed to take off the ground despite the fact that the cost of living were exceedingly higher than they were in the North African countries ; Al-Shabab’s endless attempts to bomb the metropolis using Ethio-Somalis, who have immensely benefited from the federal system, never materialised; after the death of Prime Minister Meles, Ethiopia was left without a leader for quite some time but business went as usual; a smooth transfer of power took place for the first time in the history of the country with no recourse to violence; for over a year now the Salafist’s did their level best to create chaos and bloodshed on behalf of their foreign sponsors but never succeeded.
Ethiopia has shown beyond reasonable doubt that it is a stable country with impeccable institutions in place to effectively and adequately deal with those intent on derailing the current federal system when the need arises. While the EPRDF is going from strength to strength, the diehard Diasporas is petering out; twenty years of relentless efforts to dislodge the EPRDF from power has failed miserably due to the simple fact that it has the solid support of the populace which it deservedly gained as a result of its track record. The Ethiopian people have made it clear on numerous occasions that they are all the way behind the EPRDF and could not care less if the ‘’fools and idiots’‘bark until they gasp for air. It is an open secret that their compatriots view them as an unpatriotic and traitors for colluding with the enemies of their country such as Egypt and Eritrea.
In the US and Europe their numbers are dwindling and are no longer as potent as they used to be; the terrorist organisation G-7 is in a precarious financial position as it has been abandoned in a spectacular fashion by those who have regained their senses. Out of sheer desperation, the ‘’ fools and idiots’’ are invariably stumbling from one issue into another to give the impression that it is not yet dead and buried; they tend to be reactive and devoid of vision, principle or morality. Honesty has been pushed by the wayside and latching on to emotive issues to gain a few political mileages appear to be their modus operandi. To comprehend how low the toxic Diaspora has sunk, it may be helpful to highlight a few instances.
Recently a fictitious newspaper interview with the new Premier was posted on the opposition cyber spaces and the diehard webmasters were not perturbed at all when it was found to be a white lie. It was also a lie when they claimed that Azeb Mesfin was having a tiff with the new Prime Minister and that she refused to vacate the palace after the demise of her husband. Further fibs were also disseminated claiming prominent Tigrians such as Getachew Belay and Ataklti Hagos had defected when they had not. In addition rumours were circulating that Seyum Mesfin and General Samora Younis were gravely ill and receiving treatment in Atlanta and Dubai respectively when they were not. The ‘’fools and idiots’’ also announced the death of the great Ethiopian, Sheik Mohammed Al-Amoudi, who has invested billions of birr in various ventures, and created more than 30,000 jobs for his fellow country men and women. The unashamed hoodlums would do anything under the sun to get at the EPRDF and anyone associated with this organisation which is transforming Ethiopia beyond recognition.
Not long ago the toxic Diaspora wanted to use the Waldeba monastery issue to create tension between the government and the people but it didn’t work. We are also witnessing an unholy alliance between the orthodox leaders of the toxic Diaspora and the minority Muslim fundamentalists who have been trying their utmost to impose Sharia law in Ethiopia. The intentions of the ‘’fools and idiots’’ are crystal clear; they want to destabilise Ethiopia by all means possible and take over power by force as they know full well that if they were to stand for elections they would be rejected by the electorates. Meanwhile, the desperados want to scare away potential foreign investors there by in danger the galloping economy of the country that has made a huge impact on the reduction of poverty.
According to the recent World Bank report, poverty level in Ethiopia has been brought down from 38.7% to 29.6% between 2004/05 and 2010/11. In just 5 years, 2.5 million people have been moved out of poverty, and this was made possible as a result of the strong economy which has been growing at the rate of 10.6% between 2004-2011. The growth rate for the other Sub-Saharan Africa countries is only 5.2%. Over the next five years, the poverty level is expected to come down further as a result of the successful implementation of the GTP. Twenty years of relentless efforts by the hopeless ‘’fools and idiots’’ to sabotage the EPRDF’s efforts to improve the lives of the Ethiopian people have completely failed; and foreign investors have not been swayed by their lies and fabrications at all. On the contrary, supermarket giants such Mal-Mart and Tesco, and clothing retailers such as H&M and Primark are showing keen interests on Ethiopia, and it is just a matter time of before they move there and start their businesses.
Not long ago BGI, SAB Miller, Diego and Heineken bought various breweries and they are doing very well indeed. Huge investors from India, China, Turkey and other countries are already in Ethiopia, and between them they have managed to create thousands of jobs that are having huge impact on poverty alleviations. Stability of the country; adequate infrastructure; the presence of skilled work force; reliable air transport; modern financial institutions; and moderately low inflation are the reasons why foreign investors are flocking to Ethiopia in droves, and this is likely to be the case for many more years to come. The fact that Ms Rice has pulled out has no bearing on the grand plan to elevate Ethiopia into the power house of the Horn of Africa and beyond. In the meantime, the ‘’ fools and idiots ’’ can bark if they want to, but they cannot stop TPLF’s lofty vision for Ethiopia for a nanosecond.
