TDA Strengthens Health Facilities, TDA Donates Over 70 million Birr Worth of Medical Supplies to Adwa Hospital

The Tigrai Development Association (TDA), in collaboration with its TDA North America Chapter, members of the Tigrayan community in Michigan, and the Adwa Hospital International Rescue, has donated medical equipment and medicines valued at over 70 million birr, which they received from the World Medical Relief to Adwa Hospital.

The handover ceremony was attended by TDA leadership, Adwa city officials, elders, religious leaders, and members of the Adwa Hospital Rescue Association.

Speaking on behalf of TDA, Diaspora Desk Coordinator Mr. Senay Michelay expressed gratitude to the TDA North America Chapter, the Tigrayan community in Michigan, Adwa Hospital International Rescue, and World Medical Relief for their generous contribution. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the proper utilization of the donated items and urged Adwa Hospital to deploy the supplies promptly to meet the community's needs.

Kinfe Gebregziabher, the Executive Director of Adwa Hospital, received the donation and extended his heartfelt appreciation, noting that the aid would significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver quality healthcare services amidst a severe shortage of medical supplies.

Dr. Tesfamichael, a surgeon at Adwa Hospital, highlighted the challenges the hospital faced during the war, including its inability to provide essential services. He credited the efforts of members of TDA around the world and the Adwa Hospital International Rescue for supporting the hospital's recovery.

Genet Haile Selassie, a representative of the hospital, expressed her joy at the donation, which will enable the facility to restore critical services and better serve the community.

The donation is part and parcel of the TDA’s health program aimed at strengthening and restoring the health care system that has been obliterated due the war in Tigray.
