Irish President Michael D Higgins begins official visit of Ethiopia

The Irish president arrived in Addis Ababa today aboard Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 777. President Michael D Higgins was greeted by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus Ethiopia'ss Minister of Foreign Affairs and Irish Ambassador to Ethiopia Aidan O'sHara.
Mr. Higgins will meet with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegne and Ethiopian President Dr. Mulatu Teshome. The Irish president will visit the national Museum of Ethiopia while he is in the country.
Mr Higgins will also visit South Africa and Malawi as his official working visit to Africa. The purpose of the visit is said to be to strengthen Ireland'ss relations with Africa.
Ireland is one of the strongest supporters of Ethiopian development and transformation. Ethiopia and Ireland established official diplomatic reelections in 1994. Both countries opened embassies in each other'ss capitals the same year. Since then the relegation between Ethiopia and Ireland has been getting stronger.
President Higgins visit to Ethiopia this time will strengthen the diplomatic, political, economic and developmental relation not only with Ethiopia but also with the whole of Africa.
