US & EU Special Envoys with western ambassadors visit Tigrai

Today August 2, 2022 United States Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Mike Hammer, European Union - EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Dr. Annette Weber, UN Under Secretary General & Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Hanna Tetteh, and Ambassadors of Canada, Italy and Deputy Head of UK Mission arrived in Mekelle, the capital city of Tigrai. This first joint mission to Mekelle, Tigrai, is supposedly to encourage the launch of talks between the Federal Government of Ethiopia and Tigrai government.

Getachew Reda, Advisor to the President of Tigray and Member of the Central Command said “President Debretsion explained Tigray’s position on negotiations & the hurdles standing in the way of peaceful settlement of the war on Tigray in all its forms including the siege that has been imposed on the people of Tigray. He expressed his readiness for peace while reiterating GoT’s unwavering commitment to end the suffering of our people.”
