Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

As a Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros has faced one of the biggest human crisis Ethiopia has seen in a long time. In October 2013 thousands of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia were abused by the Saudi government and civilians. Some Ethiopians lost their lives in many Saudi cities at the hands of Saudis.

With the dynamic leadership of Dr. Tedros Adhanom and the Ethiopian government over one hundred thousand Ethiopian deportees were repatriated to their country. Ethiopian planes were flying thirteen and fourteen time a day to fly Ethiopian women and children back home to their mother land Ethiopia.

The reason Tigrai Online chose Dr. Tedros Adhanom was because he showed transparency, passion and leadership in the massive operation of evacuating Ethiopians from the dangerous violence they were facing in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom became Foreign Minister of Ethiopian in November 2012 replacing the current Ethiopian Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn. From 2005 to 2012 Dr. Tedros served as a Minister of Health of Ethiopia. For his amazing work as a health Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom has been awarded the Stanley T. Woodward Lectureship at Yale University in June 2012, given to distinguished international visitors to the University.

Dr. Tedros’ leadership has contributed to major gains toward achieving the goal of providing universal access to primary health care through Ethiopia’s community-based health extension program,” said Elizabeth Bradley, faculty director of the Global Health Leadership program at Yale University.

Dr. Tedros also served in many capacities as an expert and leadership positions within the Ministry of Health at both federal and regional levels. At one point in time he was the Minister of State and Head of the Tigrai State Regional Health Bureau.
