Saint Yared Theological College Axum

Ref: Requesting your help and assistance

As it is well known Axum is the center of ancient Ethiopian civilization, the foundation of religion, a central place of history and the mother of so many blessed church fathers. And this is clear to everyone.

Especially as the abode of The Arc of Zion, it is graced with a unique glory and honor. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church and Saint Yared Theological College built at the time of His Imperial Majesty Haileselassie King of Kings of Ethiopia, has now deteriorated due to age, and though it is still providing its meager services, it has not been satisfactory to the needs of the present time.

Especially at this time of Ethiopia’s Millennium celebration, reflecting on the renewal of our country, and praying for peace and progress of our people, we find there are so many things that are deficient in the Saint Yare Theological College.

The Orthodox Church and the Christian peoples of Ethiopia are the source of spiritual knowledge, The Old & New Testament, Degua & Tsome Degua, Zemare, (Chants) Qene, Mewaset, and liturgy, and teachers of holy books from all over the country come to the Theological College to be trained, and for this to be done satisfactorily, we respectfully call upon all Ethiopians living in North America, in the name of The Arc of Zion, Head of Archdioceses and Monasteries Saint Mary Church, to rise up with good will and do your part and spiritual duty in supporting this sacred cause financially and materially.

We would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to The Honorable Professor Ephraim Isaac and to The Honorable Melake-Genet Gezahegn G/Kiristos who, in spite of their busy schedules, willingly accepted our request to coordinate the gathering of funds, and we call upon all believers to rally on this sacred act and duty that it may be successful, that you all be generous in your support.

May God Bless Ethiopia
