The Ethiopian federal Anti Corruption Commission and the national security agency arrested 16 people including Minister Melaku Fenta director of the Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (Gumruk) and his deputy Mr. Gebrewahid Woldegiorgis.
We are expecting more details from the government about this high profile arrest. The names of the rest of the people who were arrested is not disclosed.
We think if the corrupted government officials are weeded out most people will think twice before they involve themselves in the dirty business of corruption. If there is no taker there will not be giver. We applaud the Ethiopian federal Anti Corruption Commission for showing some guts. No one should be immune from facing justice if they are corrupted.
Justice Minister Brehan Hailu has been fired from his job on Friday, May 10, 2013, reliable sources disclosed to Fortune. Please Note: Tigrai Online does not have any information that Minister Brehan Hailu's removal form his post has anything to do with corruption. We are just posting it FYI
