Somali officials say they have captured Al-Qaeda in Somalia leader and Al-Shabab founder Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys in central Somalia. The top al-Shabab commander and wanted a terrorist by the United States was captured at about three am in the morning.

The Al-Shabab terrorist group who were trained and armed by Eritrea with Egyptian financing have been on receiving end of four pronged attack from Ethiopian, Kenyan, Ugandan and African Union forces for the past few years. Many Eritrean advisers and commanders were captured by Ethiopia including Brig.-General Hadish Ephrem, commander of the 18th Division who was captured while fleeing Somalia into Kenya in 2007.

Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, just like the Ginbot-7 leaders was financed by Egypt and supported by Eritrea to open a proxy front against Ethiopia, however they didn’t do good for Egypt, for Eritrea or for himself.
