Atlanta court orders Elias Kifle of Ethiopian Review to issue retraction and pay hefty fees
Tigrai Online February 9, 2014
Ethiopian Review is a website run by Elias Kifle who is been tangled up with Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi in some legal mess for some time. It seems Elias is trying to force people from exercising their right if he suspects they support the Ethiopian government.
That is how he runs in to a problem with some Ethiopians including Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi. A few years back Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi won a lawsuit against Elias Kifle in London. Elias said “I did not defend the London lawsuits because I believe the court had no jurisdiction over me. Al Amoudi was awarded over $500,000 in the London lawsuits”.
This time it is Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi’s partner Jemal Ahmed who won a lawsuit against Elias Kifle and Ethiopian Review.
The Atlanta court awarded Mr. Jemal Ahmed a total of $428,910.00 US dollars in compensatory, punitive damages and attorney’s fees. Elais is also ordered by the court to post a retraction of his claim on his website Ethiopian Review.
The retraction posted in Ethiopian Review reads as follows; “The statements made regarding Jemal Ahmed in the article “Al Amoudi’s Human Trafficker in Ethiopia Identified,” originally published on March 29, 2012, are false and defamatory. I hereby retract my false and defamatory comments regarding Jemal Ahmed in this article.” .
He seems to blame the law firm DLA Piper for the judgment against him and he calls them “the notorious law firm”.
Alais Kifle claims his opponents have paid almost a million dollars to fight him in court. "Al Amoudi and gang have so far wasted close to $1 million dollars to silence me. For the Atlanta lawsuit alone, they have spent $512,725 according to the affidavit they submitted" he wrote in an article published on February 7, 2015 in his website.

Elias Kifle could have found a different way to oppose the Ethiopian government which he has every right to do so if he thinks there are wrongs to be exposed. The problem majority Ethiopians have with him and his website is the way he is going about to oppose the government. He is singling out Ethiopians from on ethnic group, his aggressive and abrasive way is not acceptable to many Ethiopians and the website is full of fabricated propaganda sleaze.
Elias Kifle and his website Ethiopian Review’s influence in Ethiopian politics is declining fast because the tactics he is using to fight the Ethiopian government.
