About a week ago the Ethiopian government cut off the country from the world wide web to stop students from cheating on their national exam. Last year there was a massive fraud after the exam was leaked to the internet by some people who are believed to be against the government. “The shutdown is aimed at preventing a repeat of leaks that occurred last year, We are being proactive. We want our students to concentrate and be free of the psychological pressure and distractions that this brings,” Mohammed Seid, Ethiopian public relations director Office for Government Communications Affairs, told Reuters.
Ethiopian narrow extremest groups who are doing everything they can to over throw the Ethiopian government tried to twist the internet shutdown by the government in to politics, but it did not fly.
Last year when armed hooligans and marauders were roaming the town of Gonder burning, robbing businesses, deporting and taking innocent lives, the government decided to limit internet access to the organizers of this evil acts.
