Mekelle industrial park built at a cost of 100 million USD was inaugurated in the presence of Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and many Tigrai State and federal officials today July 9, 2017. The Ethiopian government has inaugurated two more industrial parks in Hawassa and Kombolcha before the Mekelle industrial park.
The industrial parks are mainly focused on textiles and apparel sectors. The Mekelle industrial park which lies on 100 hectare land will create about 20,000 jobs.

Ethiopia is building 15 Industrial Park in many parts of the country which are in different stages of construction.
